The topic of the first session was \u201cSelf-Introduction\u201d, the second\nsession was about \u201cFuture dreams and role models\u201d, the third session was about \u201cIntroducing\nfriends\u201d, and the fourth session, this time was about \u201cUnique Culture\u201d,\nintroducing each other&#8217;s culture. As our students have more and more online\nmeetings, their conversations in English have become smoother and longer. They\nhave become very good friends with the Korean students, and many of them have\nexpressed that they would like to meet in person. The students are trying to\nmake their interactions even better by continually improving how to expand on\nthe topic, how to ask questions, and how to respond to what the Korean students\nsay. They realized that the expressions they learned in class to continue\nconversations (Conversation Strategies) are very important, and they would like\nto practice using them more in class.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cms.aichi-c.ed.jp\/kdc-mas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-29.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2998\" width=\"250\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cms.aichi-c.ed.jp\/kdc-mas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-29.png 508w, http:\/\/cms.aichi-c.ed.jp\/kdc-mas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-29-300x269.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe topic, Unique\nCulture, helped us discover something new about each other&#8217;s cultures. We found\nmany things in common and felt closer to each other. Japanese anime such as \u201cChainsaw\nMan&#8221; and \u201cOshi no Ko&#8221; are very popular in Korea, and J-Pop such as \u201cAimyon&#8221;\nis also popular. Also, K-Pop and Korean idols are popular in Japan, so we had a\nlot of fun talking about common topics. It was also interesting to learn about\nKorean culture that we didn&#8217;t know. \u201cKorean kimchi is not spicy and there are\nmany kinds of them.\u201d It was really interesting to learn about the real\nsituation in Korea, such as \u201cEating at a Korean restaurant costs about 1,000\nyen and comes with a lot of free side dishes&#8221;, \u201cFood delivery is popular&#8221;,\nand &#8220;Hanbok is only worn on very special occasions and is rarely worn&#8221;.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cms.aichi-c.ed.jp\/kdc-mas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-30.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2999\" width=\"250\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cms.aichi-c.ed.jp\/kdc-mas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-30.png 395w, http:\/\/cms.aichi-c.ed.jp\/kdc-mas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/image-30-215x300.png 215w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>  &nbsp;Our students selected various topics to explain about Japanese culture. They introduced seasonal events such as cherry blossom viewing, Tanabata, Doll&#8217;s Festival, and fireworks, Japanese-style cleaning time in school, Japanese food, anime, and music. They discovered that sticking chopsticks in rice is a taboo not only in Japan but also in Korea. It seemed that the unique cleaning time in Japan was a big surprise for Korean students.
