International Course NEWS No.59 Short-term Study Abroad at Kalani High School, HawaiiInternational Course NEWS No.59

For ten days starting from February 1st, eight Bihoku High School students visited Kalani High School in Hawaii on a short-term exchange. During their stay, they lived with host families and participated in high school classes during the day. They also visited tourist attractions including museums, palaces, and the world famous Diamond Head volcano. Additionally, they joined a Japanese language class at a local elementary school and took part in an environmental conservation activity at another high school to help clean the local canals.

In the evenings and on weekends, they had various opportunities for cultural exchange, such as going shopping, watching sports games, and driving around with their host families and friends. They also enjoyed cooking and dinner parties together.

Through this program, the students not only improved their English communication skills but also deepened their understanding of different cultures and broadened their international perspectives. In October, students from Kalani High School will visit Bihoku High School. Just as the Bihoku students learned a lot during this program, we hope to provide the Kalani students with the same valuable learning experiences.
