On Sunday, September 17th, the Aichi Prefecture English Speech Contest, Owari District Preliminary Round was held at Nishiharu High School. This is the first hurdle on the road to the national stage. Three members of Team Bihoku were selected through an in-school audition held in May. They completed writing the scripts before the summer vacation and have been practicing since. Now it’s time for the actual performance.
The results
- 1st place-2nd year student: Yua Kawamoto, Bihoku
- 2nd place-1st year student: Rikuto Takada, Bihoku
- 3rd place-2nd year student: Momo Honma, Bihoku
Team Bihoku dominated the podium!
Although Bihoku has been participating in the prefectural tournament for the past few years, this is the first time the team has achieved this wonderful result in the regional tournament. The students did a great job. Ms. Kawamoto, who placed the first, and Mr. Takada, who placed the second, both have experience overseas. According to the rules of the contest, only one student who has lived overseas can advance to the prefectural level. Consequently, first -placed Ms. Kawamoto will be joined by third-placed Ms. Honma, who has no experience living abroad.
They will advance to the prefectural tournament, which will be held on Saturday, October 21st at the Nagoya International Center. I look forward to seeing these students grow even more through this experience.
