🌏 International Course NEWS No.69″English Club Hosts Exchange Event with International Students!”

The English Club recently welcomed two international students from the Philippines and Germany for a special Language Exchange Opportunity.

To begin, club members asked questions in English that they had prepared in advance. Afterwards, they introduced useful Japanese phrases and expressions to the guests. It was a meaningful time of mutual learning, where everyone gained insights into each other’s cultures and languages.

Our guests were Prince, a student from the Philippines who arrived in Japan this September, and Julie, a student from Germany who has been here since March.

English Club members asked many questions and learned about the students’ countries, school systems, and personal experiences.

💬 Voices from the International Students (Highlights)

What surprised you about Japan?

  • Prince: “You can eat raw fish!”
  • Julie: “Everyone is so polite.”

About schools in your home country:

  • Prince: “We study from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.”
  • Julie: “Each student chooses their own classes, so schedules vary from person to person.”

Things you want to try in Japan:

  • Prince: “I want to try snowboarding.”
  • Julie: “I’d love to experience a hot spring.”

Challenges you’ve faced in Japan:

  • Prince: “Nothing in particular so far.”
  • Julie: “The way people express themselves is different. In Germany, we clearly say both good and bad things, but in Japan, people tend not to express negative opinions.”

Through this exchange, English Club members not only practiced language skills but also deepened their understanding of different cultures, customs, and ways of thinking. It was a fascinating experience that allowed us to feel the vastness of the world within the small space of our club room.

We hope to continue creating opportunities like this to foster meaningful communication and global awareness.
